Ingredients
Scale
- 2 lbs boneless, skinless chicken breasts
- 1 cup peach preserves
- 1/2 cup ketchup
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Step 1: In a medium saucepan over medium heat, combine the peach preserves, ketchup, apple cider vinegar, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Stir well and let it simmer for about 10 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
- Step 2: While the sauce is simmering, place the chicken breasts in a slow cooker. Season them with salt and pepper.
- Step 3: Once the homemade peach BBQ sauce is ready, pour it over the chicken in the slow cooker. Ensure that all pieces are coated well.
- Step 4: Cover the slow cooker and cook on low for about 6 hours or on high for about 3 hours until the chicken is tender and easily shredded.
- Step 5: After cooking, shred the chicken using two forks and stir it back into the sauce. Serve on buns or with your favorite sides! Enjoy your BBQ pulled chicken!
Notes
- For optimal storage, refrigerate any leftover BBQ pulled chicken in an airtight container for up to 3 days or freeze it for longer preservation.
- When reheating, gently warm the pulled chicken on the stove over low heat or in the microwave, adding a splash of water or extra sauce to keep it moist and flavorful.
- Serve your BBQ pulled chicken on toasted buns topped with coleslaw for a delightful crunch, or enjoy it alongside cornbread and baked beans for a classic barbecue experience.
- For an extra layer of flavor in your peach BBQ sauce, consider adding a dash of cayenne pepper or a splash of peach nectar with vanilla while simmering; it will enhance the sweetness of the peaches beautifully.
