Ingredients
Scale
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter
- 1 package (10 oz) marshmallows
- 6 cups Rice Krispies cereal
- 1 cup shredded coconut, toasted
- 1 cup caramel sauce
- 1 cup chocolate chips
- 1/2 teaspoon sea salt
- Optional: extra toasted coconut for topping
Instructions
- Step 1: In a large saucepan, melt the butter over low heat. Once melted, add the marshmallows and stir continuously until completely melted and smooth.
- Step 2: Remove the saucepan from heat and quickly mix in the Rice Krispies cereal until well combined.
- Step 3: Stir in the toasted shredded coconut until evenly distributed throughout the mixture.
- Step 4: Press the Rice Krispies mixture into a greased 9×13 inch baking dish using a spatula or your hands (moisten them to prevent sticking).
- Step 5: Drizzle caramel sauce over the top of the pressed mixture, then sprinkle with chocolate chips and sea salt, pressing them gently into the caramel.
- Step 6: Allow the treats to cool completely before cutting into squares. Optionally, top with extra toasted coconut before serving.
Notes
- For optimal freshness, store your Samoa Rice Krispie Treats in an airtight container at room temperature for up to a week, or refrigerate them for longer shelf life.
- If you want to enjoy these treats warm and gooey again, simply pop them in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds, but be careful not to overheat them as they can get too soft.
- These delightful treats are perfect for serving at parties; consider cutting them into smaller bite-sized squares for easy sharing, and don’t forget to garnish with extra toasted coconut for an appealing finish!
- For an extra layer of flavor, try using homemade caramel sauce instead of store-bought; it will elevate the taste and make your treats even more special.
